Humans of New York

Humans of New York is a fascinating site. If you don't know what it is or what it is about, go check it out!
Anyway this photo is from a recent post by this photographer. The caption being:
"I try to spew my thoughts for ten minutes every day."
To me this means a lot. Two years ago my senior year English teacher gave us notebooks and told us that every school day we would be writing down our thoughts for 10 minutes. Obviously if we wanted to share we could, but we had the choice not to so we had the freedom to write anything.
It meant a lot to me to take the time to write down any thoughts that I had at the beginning of every day. I guess that is what slowly fostered my need to write even more. We are so constrained with how we are suppose to write. We are told from an early age that every essay needs to have a structure: intro, middle, and conclusion. But sometimes there is no conclusion. Sometimes this idea of structure limits us way too much.
Overcome it and create, create, create!

Cheers,
Claire
