Choosing one path and other life choices

There is always a moment in a conversation as a college student where someone asks you what your major is. This is always followed by, "So what are you planning to do with it?"
That is the moment I want to run out of the room and hide. Frankly, I don't know what I want to do. I am currently majoring in Cinema Studies and I'm hoping to double in Advertising. Sometimes I wonder if the reason why I'm planning all this is to have something to say. I don't know that I want to do Advertising. All I know is I like films and analyzing them.
Are we suppose to know what we want to do at this age? In this society we're suppose to know what we want to do. I feel as an almost 19 year old, I shouldn't be asked this "what are you planning to do with it" question. It's not realistic to know what you want to do for the rest of your life.
My father told me once, something I have to constantly remind myself of, that we are going to college to expand our knowledge on the world. Then its free reign. But in all honesty, don't even think college is the right thing for me. I mean I enjoy learning, but I only like to remember things that I think are important.

What is important in life? Is it having a plan?

My plan at this point in my life is to just enjoy it.

Cheers,
Claire
