Notebooks
Is it important to write in notebooks? I recently read a short essay by Joan Didon for my writing class that addressed the idea of writing in notebooks. She said that writing in notebooks allowed people to revisit themselves. When you think of it people forget how they once were.
I, myself, write in a moleskin notebook. I draw, I write little notes, and I tape things to it. When I was younger I loved the idea of having a notebook. And although I could never really dedicate myself to them, I have imprints of my child like mind in it.
Why do I do it?
I do it so I can remember things. I have such a good memory at my age and I'm afraid I'll become like my mother or something: forgetful. And I suppose thats what we all do. Whether it be scrapbooking or writing in a diary or even writing our own memoir; we do it so when we need a boost of self confidence we can look at our pieces and say, "Ah, now thats how I used to be like" or "Ah, look at how much I've grown". I like remembering the things I learned because they made me who I have become.
Do you write in notebooks? If so why?
Cheers,
Claire
