Her Campus and making choices

The past two weeks I had the privilege to become a writer for an online publication: Her Campus. This website caters specifically to young college women. They have chapters in many universities around the country. My chapter is for the women of the University of Oregon. You can see our chapter page right here.

Of course, being in it, I want to make a difference in it. Looking at the website, it was not up to par. If this is for the women of the University of Oregon, shouldn't there be things on what is going on in the area? I'm tired of seeing 'what to wear at an interview', 'ideas for halloween', 'how to stay safe' and more. It is a complete waste of time and effort. If this is just a ploy to get resume things, it's not working. There should be Eugene news, campus news, and what you can find Eugene. If our readers are living in Eugene, we should acknowledge that.
To the right is a screenshot of an article of what I wrote a few days ago. Because this DIY thing has been overdone so many times I had to include my own flair of loofahs and female-versions of Arthur Dent. My point being is that this isn't want I want to do.

However, I am taken matters into my own hands. I'm obviously going to do whatever I want if I'm allowed to write about whatever I want!
My current series on the site is on the Downtown Eugene scene. This scene is up-and-coming and is literally becoming a mini-version of Portland (homeless people and VooDoo included.) They are really trying to make it nicer and I think people should know about it. Although I don't know how I feel about people learning about Townshends (my favorite tea shop.)

If anyone who actually views this blog is a real person, please look at my articles!

Cheers,
Claire
