GEAR UP for the worst.

I saw this ad on Twitter about a month ago and honestly made the mistake of watching it all the way through. I've seen a lot of articles on it being the worst ad of 2013. And I can't help, but say yes and no.
First, what girl in this age is impressed by a guy who is trying to woo her by taking photographs as she snowboards down the mountain? Obviously the idea is there: if you are a male looking for love (or sex) you will bring all the ladies to the yard with your gadget. Girls will be impressed that you can retract their number out of them as you should them how you use your amazing gadget.
It is a clever ad, but it just gives out the wrong vibes. I think of a guy did that to any girl in real life, he would receive a restraining order.
One question I have is do you have to have your phone near by every time? I'm only asking this because his phone magically appears 3 feet away as well as unattended. Seriously who does that…
I think it's up in the ranks of Axe body sprays. Axe commercials always portray women as brainless and that if you use Axe you will get all the women you want. I find this one to be less crude than the Axe advertisements because it's using the sleek and sexy method of attracting a woman rather than an animal crawling all over a body. Which kind of brings up the idea that maybe Axe commercials are portraying men as meat and women as the dominant creatures. Different P.O.V. obviously.

What do you think of this ad? Is it really "the worst ad ever"?

Cheers,
Claire
