The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared

Yes. No Hello Ireland today (yesterday). There wasn't much exciting yesterday, except that friends and I went to watch The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared.
It was a really great film. It was funny, it was uplifting, and it was just absolutely worth it.
It follows a man, Allan Karlsson, as he decides to climb out of the window of his retirement home and go off. On the day he does, it is his 100th birthday so everyone, meaning the caretaker, is excitedly preparing the occasion. He manages to get a hold of a large sum of cash, which gets him and his friends followed by a biker gang called "Never Again".

Overall I loved it. The trailer did not really give anything away. There were still a lot of funny moments in the film that made it worth watching. I liked that he narrated the film in English and the rest of the time he spoke everything else from Swedish to Spanish. The music was also a big highlight for me. In general, European films always do a lovely job with the soundtrack and always manage to select songs appropriate or even ironic for the scene in play.

Very much worth the money to see it in theaters or even to rent it. I'm so glad it was out because living in the United States, they don't show films like this. They probably think people won't be interested in seeing it. It was actually a book that was released in 2009 and the film was released last year. I guess it finally got some better exhibition opportunities.

Cheers,
Claire
